Designing garden lighting involves more than just choosing fixtures; it's about creating an atmosphere and ensuring your garden is both functional and beautiful at night. Here are some tips to help you design an effective garden lighting plan:
1. Plan for Layers of Light
• Ambient Lighting: Provides general illumination and sets the mood. Think soft, diffused lighting for larger areas.
• Task Lighting: Used for functional purposes, like lighting pathways, steps, or outdoor dining areas.
• Accent Lighting: Highlights specific garden features like plants, trees, water features, or sculptures.
Tip: Balance the layers to avoid overly bright or dark spots.
2. Use Warm Colour Temperatures
• Warm white LEDs (2700K to 3000K) create a cosy and inviting atmosphere. Cooler lights (above 4000K) can feel harsh and less natural in garden settings.
